In science, I feel that having a hands-on approach with emphasis on the applications of the concepts in a real-world situation is key for students’ grasp of the material. Fostering students’ innate curiosity through inquiry-based lessons and explorations, and modeling and presenting information in many styles to address students’ different learning modalities are all important in ensuring that every student is as successful as possible. Technology is an important tool, in that it not only addresses students’ interests, but also presents students with a unique opportunity to view phenomena they might not otherwise be able to see in a classroom situation. It also allows me as an educator to have a firm grasp on students’ understanding as the lesson or unit progresses. In Earth Science, the themes focus on the structures and processes of the earth, including geology, metereology, and ecology, while Physical Science revolves around the disciplines of physics and chemistry.

Why should a family send their student to TBCS?

TBCS offers a learning environment like no other I've ever worked at, with flexible scheduling and a course offering that encompasses a wide variety of student interests, needs, and abilities. Students' talents in art, music, dance, theater, as well as academics are embraced and nurtured to help them become lifelong learners in almost all subject areas. Students leave TBCS prepared for college and the world beyond, ready to interact with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, and confident in themselves and their abilities.
