I studied English Education at DePaul University in Chicago and Theater at both Columbia College Chicago and Moraine Valley Community College. I acted professionally at The Guild Theater and performed in many shows throughout my educational career. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share my passion for the stage with the talented students at Trinity-Byrnes.
English Language Arts and Theater both enable students to exercise, what I think, is the most important human attribute to have: empathy. In reading literature, engaging in student-led discussions, or embodying characters in a play, students in my classroom will constantly be interacting with and developing an understanding for other people (whether it be their peers or a fictional character in a book) who challenge them to think in new ways. Through reading and writing, students will engage in a multitude of activities that will beg them to be reflective, analytical, and open minded in my class. I know that each student has the ability to be successful, and I will deliver differentiated instruction to ensure that every student reaches the end of the school year feeling confident and proud of themselves and their work. My end-goal is to further create well-rounded individuals who have the tools in their “tool-box” to be successful in any avenue of life they wish to pursue.
