My Drama classes are performance based with both middle school and high school presenting a play and large scale musical each year. Students are trained in both the Stanislavski and Meisner theories of acting, as well as extensive scene study and improvisation. All elements of production completed by students, providing students opportunities in all areas of technical theatre. Students are encouraged to participate in several state and regional drama competitions and Performing Arts festivals during the school year including: SCSTA, SCTA and SCISA.
Music class serves as an into study of music with a concentration in vocal technique. Students will learn the fundamentals of classical voice, with an application to student selected contemporary and musical theatre pieces. In addition to vocal technique, students will learn introductory piano, drums, cajon and guitar. Students will be able to sight read and identify an octave of sheet music. Music students will be given the opportunity to perform in main stage musicals as well as our winter and spring concert. The TBCS Music Department participates in both SCISA and PAIS festivals.
