I was born and raised right outside of Chicago and attended DePaul University for both my undergraduate degree in English and my graduate degree in education. For me, teaching is much more than transmitting specialized content knowledge to students. As an educator, my goal is to be the facilitator for learning—a guide and resource for students. I encourage students to be avid questioners of the world in which they live. The field of education is constantly evolving in hopes of best serving students. Teaching is a complex, dynamic, ever-changing and evolving art that has to be as flexible as the minds that it hopes to teach. Every student’s needs, and strengths are going to be different and as a teacher my goal is to help every student succeed. Additionally, I firmly believe that learning is social. Though collaboration, we are able to gain a fuller understanding that has been reconciled with many different lenses and world-views. My classes are a blend individualized supports and collaboration in efforts to help every student succeed.
